GOLD GAINS RS.1,300 PER TOLA

Kathmandu, 31 July:: Price of gold has increased by Rs. 1,300 per tola Wednesday and reached Rs. 53,900, RSS reports..

According to Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers´ Association (NEGOSIDA), the gold price was Rs. 52,600 per tola on Tuesday.

The gold price was increased due to impact of international market, said NEGOSIDA.Gold was traded at Rs. 52,300 in Nepali market on Friday and it was stable until Monday. It was slightly up by Rs. 300 per tola on Tuesday.

The NEGOSIDA has fixed the price of worked gold as Rs. 53,650 per tola today while it was Rs. 52,350 on Tuesday.Similarly, price of silver has been fixed at Rs. 840 per tola today.

UDMF TO JOIN POLLS

Kathmandu, 31 July: The United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) has decided to move ahead with determination to hold election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) on the stipulated date of November 19, RSS reports..

A meeting of the UDMF held at the office of the Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) at Bijuli Bazaar in the capital Wednesday morning made a conclusion that the new constitution should be promulgated through CA at any cost.

The meeting also decided that provision of the representation of 58 per cent seats on proportional and 42 per cent on direct voting seats of the previous CA be kept intact.

Similarly, it decided to make provision of number of seats for the representation in CA from Madhes on the basis of percentage of population as per the constitutional provision as per the latest census.

The meeting also decided to request the Election Commission to extend the date for one month for updating voters´ names as many people have been still left out from registering their names in the bio-metric voters list.

After the meeting, Chairman of the UDMF, Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, said that serious discussion was held being focused on the issue of making the CA election a success by holding it on the stipulated date with participation of all parties.

General Secretary of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic), Jitendra Dev said that five-point decision has been made by holding discussion on different issues including role to be played from the UDMF to hold CA election with the participation of most of the parties in the election.

Today´s meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chairman of the TMDP, Mahantha Thakur. The next meeting of UDMF has been scheduled for August 11, he added.

The Tarai Madhes Democratic Party, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic), Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Republic), Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party-Nepal and Sadbhawana Party are associated with the UDMF.

UCPN MAOIST LEADER BOGATI ASKS OPPOSITION TO JOIN
POLLS

Kathmandu, 31 July: Leader of the Unified CPN (Maoist), Posta Bahadur Bogati, urged the poll opposing political parties not to push the nation towards indecision by talking about the boycotting of the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections, RSS

He said there was no alternative to the CA election and that it would not be disrupted just because any political force opposes it. He added that the CA election would be held on November 19 even if the poll-opposing political parties including the CPN-Maoist did not participate in it.

Speaking at a press conference organized by Revolutionary Journalists´ Association here today, leader Bogati said the sister organization of the Unified CPN (Maoist) would be mobilized to conclude the election process in view of how the poll opposing Baidya-led CPN-Maoist moves ahead.

The CPN-Maoist has decided to boycott the current election process showing various reservations including on the formation of current government and the ´four-party syndicate´ in Nepali politics.

During the press meeting, leader Bogati said the political parties have a compulsion to hold the CA election in November as per the public spirit and that none could disrupt the election.

Bogati further said that some poll opposing parties including the CPN-Maoist have talked of dialogue while at the same time forwarded the programmes of protest and anti-election campaigns thereby creating problems.

Responding to queries on a different context, former Minister for Energy, Bogati, stated that the UCPN (Maoist) has no policy to disrupt construction of any hydropower projects. He stressed on the need of forwarding the construction works of Upper Trishuli ´A´, immediately
