New NC central leadership elected

Kathmandu, 27 Sept.: NC youth leader Gagan Thapa and educationist swept elections And father-in law and Spokesman Arjun Narsingh KC swept elections for the NC central working committee (CWC) collecting the most votes .
Elections were held six days ago for a four-year term.
Khum Bahadur Khadka, a supporter of Sher Bahadur Deuba tallied third lby garnering 1791 votes.
Relatives of the Koirala family fared well.

Sashank Koirala, son of BP Koirala, Suhata Koirala, daughter of Girija, were elected.
But former foreign minister and ambassador to India Chakra Prasad Bastola was defeated; he’s a nephew of the Koirala family.
Bastola exposed the Indian link to sign a 12-point agreement with Maoists to topple monarchy following Girija’s death this year and supported the candidacy of sided of third candidate Bhim Bahadur Tamang as president.
Chiranjibi Wagle and Gobinda Raj Joshi were also defeated.
Ideologue Pradip Giri was elected along with Chandra Bhandari and Shankar Bhandari.

PRESIDENT RECEIVES TOKA FROM KUMARI
Kathmandu, 27 Sept. President Dr Ram Baran Yadav received tika and prashad from Kumari or Living Goddess at Humari Ghar Monday evening on the last day of Indrajatra.
People were inconveniences with the movement of the president.
Traffic in and out of the city center was held up for nearly three years—never seen during the royal regime.

PRACHANDA, PM MEET
Kathmandu, 27Sept.: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal held discussions with Maoist Chairman Prachanda and discussed integration and resettlement of 19,000 PLA combatants delayed for more than three years.
Prachanda asked Nepal to convene a meeting of the special committee headed by the premier to begin the processes, Prachanda’s aide said.
The meeting comes one day after failure to elect Nepal’s successor Sunday in the 8th round vote in parliament.

LAWYER AND SUPPOSED WIFE OF SHOBRAJ JAILED
Kathmandu, 27 Sept.: Nihita Biswas, who claims she’s wife of convicted French serial killer Charles Shobraj and her mother and lawyer of Shobraj Shakuntala Thapa were convicted of contempt of court charge by a two-man bench of the supreme court Monday.
They protested a decision of the supreme court on July 30, upholding a conviction and life imprisonment awarded to him in a murder case in 1975 handed by a lower court.
The mother and daughter charges justices of taking bribes on awarding the sentence/
The bench awarded them a seven-day imprisonment .
