Prachanda confirms ‘encirclement by ‘one’s own”

Kathmandu, 28 June: Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal aka Prachanda confirmed Monday ‘encirclement’ by ‘one’s own’ at a gathering in the capital Monday.
Such encirclement by such people was ‘very painful‘, he said, more painful than the encirclement by ‘foreigners and enemies’.
The statement confirms he’s facing criticism in his party from top party colleagues.
A published report Monday said vice-chairmen Mohan Bidya, Bburam Bhattarai and General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa, unhappy wih his public utterances and style of functioning, have charged Dahal for not working collectively and have formed an alliance against him.
Prachanda’s trusted militant leader Barsha Man Pun has abandoned the chairman, the report said, and joined Bhattarai.
Prachanda has run the party with an iron fist.


Maoists ask Nepal govt. to resign, create environment for national unity govt.

Kathmandu, 28 June: Main opposition Maoists warned Monday the ‘unilateral’ summoning of parliament 5 July ’without consultation will invite confrontation’.
This was stated in a written statement issued by Spokesman Dinanath Sharma after President Dr Ram Baran Yadav summoned the legislature 5 July after consulting Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal Monday.
The standing committee asked the Nepal government to resign and create an environment for the formation of a ‘national unity government’.
The committee, which met after a politburo meet concluded, decided to prevent the passage of the annual budget in parliament ‘at any cost’.

Kashi Tiwari cremated

Kathmandu, 28 June: Hindu leader Kashi Tiwri was cremated at along a river at Rani ghat in Birgunj Monday after his body was picked up three days after his murder.
Hindu Youth Federation withdrew an indefinite strike of the town with the cremation.
Six persons, including a Maoist activist, have been apprehended for investigation amid charges Maoists were behind the assassination.
