Small parties deliver memorandums to UML, NC

Kathmandu, 23 May: Thirteen small parties in CA delivered similar memorandums Sunday to NC Vice-chairman Ram Chandra Paudel and UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal demanding the extension of the assembly tenure after 28 May.
Paudel and Khanal assured representatives of the parties they support the extension demand.
A memorandum is also being delivered to Maoists Sunday.

Former king offers prayers and worship in Nepalgunj

Kathmandu, 23 May: Former King Gyanendra Sunday offered special and puja at the Bageshwori temple in Nepalgunj in his first visit to the far-West after the ouster of monarchy.
He was cheered by supporters with calls for a Hindu state as he alighted a Buddha Air flight to the town.
The former king walked one km from Tribhuvanchowk in the town center to the temple greeted by thousands of people.
After meeting people of the region during a two-hour stay at a hotel, he will fly back to the capital Sunday.

Maoists capture land in Bardia

Kathmandu, 23 May: Maoists captured 100 bighas of land at Daulatpur, Bardia, Saturday, Sunday but denied they were behind the land grab movement saying the grabbers were landless people.
The party flag was hoisted on land of owners who were selling it.

EU nations active to convert Nepal a secular state; demands govt. reaction: Kamal Thapa

Kathmandu, 23 May: RPP-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa said as a result of the activities of EU member states, Hinduism in Nepal is in danger, Annapurna Post reports from Birgunj.
He told a programme organized by Reporters’ Club in Birgunj after the declaration of a secular state one million Nepalis have been converted.
Thapa said foreigners are behind an organized and planned move to spread Christianity Nepal.
The chairman said there was a conspiracy to declare secularism after Jananandolan 11.
Thapa revealed the French ambassador sent a letter to the government to keep Nepal secular while drafting a new constitution.
“Our party vehemently protests the letter sent by the French ambassador. The party demands an official position from the government,” Thapa said.
He added: “I challenge the EU member states pressurizing Nepal to declare a Hindu state to declare their states secular.”
